Panto 2023 – Dick Whittington

We are pleased to be able to announce that the next BADCo Pantomime will be Dick Whittington, written and directed by Tracy Keeble and performed at the St Barnabas Church Halls from 23rd to 25th February 2023.
This show will mark a new phase in BADCo’s history as we move away from our previous home at EDF Energy’s Barnwood office.  We are very excited to be working with the Church Halls team at St Barnabas and working out both the challenges and possibilities of performing on a different stage (it has a stage curtain for a start!!!).  However, we are still maintaining our connection with EDF and the Sports & Social Club there, of which BADCo forms the Drama Section, and to begin with all our rehearsals will take place in the pavilion at Barnwood.
We are gearing up to start rehearsing the show in September and now invite anyone who would like to join us in the cast or crew (or help out in any capacity) to let us know and to come along to our Welcome Meetings.
These will be held on Sunday 4th September at 2.30pm and Thursday 8th September at 7.30pm in the Pavilion at Barnwood.  These will incorporate a readthrough of the script and a discussion about the characters and what is involved.  As usual casting will be done based on the group readthroughs, where everyone will get to read a variety of roles, as well as discussion with the director where appropriate.
Tracy is looking forward to working with everyone on her script and has prepared an information pack for anyone interested in being part of the show, which includes a copy of the script and some song lyrics and links to songs etc.  If you are interested in joining us to be part of the show then please email us at badcogroup@yahoo.com and we will send it out to you.  New members are always welcome and we can provide further information about membership of the Sports & Social Club and our Junior Membership policy as well as info on how to find our rehearsal and performance venues etc, a well as answer any questions you may have.
If you are planning to attend one or both of the Welcome Meetings (readthroughs) then it would be helpful to let us know so that we can cater for appropriate numbers and also if you would like to be part of the show but can’t make the meetings, please let us know so we can arrange an alternative meeting and/or put you in touch with Tracy.
Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings, every week from 15th September and on Sundays approximately every other Sunday up to Christmas (exact schedule will be shared with cast/interested parties soon) and then every Sunday (as well as Thursdays) up to the show, with extra rehearsals as needed in the run up to the show.
We are looking forward to welcoming both regular audience members newcomers to see the show in our new venue next February and will post more information about ticket sales, charity fundraising etc once rehearsals are underway.
